Welcome to Mountain Empire High School; Home of the Redhawks!

Having graduated in 1990, I am a proud alumnus of Mountain Empire and I am excited to serve  my alma mater as the principal! Mountain Empire High School is a unique school covering many miles and welcoming many diverse communities. It is the diversity of our communities that creates the unique culture that is Mountain Empire.

As I look to the future of Mountain Empire, I envision our students experiencing an education that meets the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each individual.  In order to achieve this vision, we will need to work together as a community of students, parents, community leaders and educators. Being a small rural high school, we have great opportunities to build positive and lasting relationships with our students and families. I look forward to working together to building these relationships and providing opportunities.

In recent years, Mountain Empire has made significant improvements in school culture and climate.  All employees have been trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid and our teachers have actively been working on positive behavior supports and restorative practices in the classroom.

In the past 3 years we have increased our Honors/AP offerings from 7 classes to 15 classes within our master schedule.  Additionally, we have added a Health Career Pathway with support of the Grossmont Healthcare District. We have increased the number of CTE classes and added robotics, coding and graphic communications.  Our FFA is a strong program with great opportunities for students.

In the past few years, Mountain Empire graduates have found great success and have been admitted to top universities such as UCSD, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Davis, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, and the US Air Force Academy to name a few.

Mountain Empire High School encourages our students to be future focused and is very proud of our graduates.  We wish all of our graduates well and encourage them to remember Mountain Empire as a place that will always be home to them!

We welcome your participation in your child’s learning experience.  Please let us know how we may support you and your student this school year. Thank you for your support of Mountain Empire High School.
